The debate over their existence is fuelled by a misunderstanding around what hippie cows actually are – because while feral cows do roam the coasts, Haida Gwaii’s hippie cows officially died out years ago.

Haida Gwaii Film is set for the big screen Local filmmaker Patrick Shannon is gearing up for the release of his new film Red Girl, shot entirely on Haida Gwaii. Patrick has taken a brief hiatus from filmmaking, but was still able to do some film work through his business. “It wasn’t until the past few months that I’ve decided to make a return to filmmaking with my latest short film Red Girl,” Shannon says.

The Haida Gwaii Museum Archive goes onlineOn Saturday, February 25th, the Haida Gwaii Museum officially launched their brand new eMuseum function that features a digital archive. The website features over 2500 scanned photos from the museum’s photo archive, as well as images of some of their physical collection. However, this is just the first phase of the digital archive, as the eMuseum is still growing, and will continue to do so.

The fact of the matter is, Haida Gwaii does not have the population to support (nor afford) a funeral home or a mortician. And yet, death care services are undeniably essential and deserve to be offered with dignity and respect.
