atm-local-band-01The Pseudos will be doing a big BC tour in June through all of BC including Vancouver Island. In the meantime, they are looking for support from the community via a fundraiser on Indigogo. “By pre-ordering one of our albums/contributing to our project, you are helping us reach our dreams of releasing our debut album that we are very passionate about! We’ll be touring throughout all of BC in June 2023 and are excited to have our albums to sell along the way! We’re starting with a goal of $4500 which will cover the costs of 100 coloured vinyl records, 50 cassettes, 250 CDs and shipping costs. We’ll have lots of fun perks in our campaign, including custom-made t-shirts and underwear, stickers, home concerts and of course our album in all formats including digital download. Thank you all so much for your support! Whether by pre-ordering, donating or simply sharing our campaign, we are extremely grateful!!” You can find their campaign at igg.me/at/pseudos-album-printing/x#/

atm-local-band-03David Archer “I’m creating a sound installation that will be presented in the art gallery at Saahlinda Naay Haida Gwaii Museum alongside an art show by visual artist Benedicte Hansen. The concept for my side of the project is music for piano and biosphere. To make the piece, I’m composing original piano music and weaving it together with field recordings I’ve gathered from around Haida Gwaii. Visitors to the museum will be able to hear my recorded piece as part of the art show starting this September.”

atm-local-band-04The Minstrel Cramps who delighted us as the featured band for the last Haida Gwaii Coffeehouse of the season at the end of March will be releasing their debut album Teeth at the end of June. Release party tickets and album presales will be announced on their Facebook/theminstrelcramps.

atm-local-band-05Edge of the World Music Festival will be taking place in Tll.aal Tlell August 11-13. Planning is well underway but organizers are still looking for people to sign up on their website to volunteer and check their Facebook page for updates on meetings and coordinator positions that may still be available. “We encourage local artists to apply, local facilitators to offer up some workshops as well as vendors,” says Pete Moore. Tickets are already on sale and new this year is the sliding scale option. “We want to keep the festival affordable and inclusive, making it easy for people to support the festival in a very tangible way.” Check out www.edgefestival.ca for this year’s lineup and more info.
